2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Because of an unwillingness to receive the love of the Truth and be saved, many today have opted for redefining Truth and question the Word of God. They ask things like, "Has God said, marriage is only between a man and a woman?" "Has God said, there are but two genders?" "Has God said, you must be born again?” "Has God said, that access to Him is exclusively through Jesus Christ?" Many are saying the Bible is out of touch with reality and out of step with society. This is nothing new and it began back when there were but two people on the earth.
Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
Nothing has had more of a negative impact on our world than the rejection of the Word of God as absolute spiritual and moral truth. Think about the consequences of this conversation; Satan questioned the Word of God, Eve was deceived, she gave the forbidden fruit to her husband and he ate. To put it simply; This one sin killed every human who would ever live and it was all birthed out of questioning whether or not the Word of God was true.
1 John 1:8-10
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
The word “confess” means to “see as” or “speak of” as the same. This means if we say that something is not a sin that God has declared to be sin, the Truth is not in us. If we say that our actions are not sinful when the Bible says they are, we call Him a liar and His Word is not in us.
John 8:31-32
Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
What Jesus said to the believing Jews is still true today. Only the Truth of God’s Word can make you free. It is also true that redefining or denying the truths of God’s Word will not make you free but leave you a slave to sin. This is why Satan tries to twist or deny the Word as Truth. He doesn’t want us to be made free, he only wants to steal, kill and destroy and his weapon of choice is and always has been, questioning the Word of God.
What began in the garden continues to this day, God’s Word is called into question and Satan is using the same tactic he did with Eve.
Genesis 3:2-4
And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die."
It used to be when people heard they were sinners according to God’s standards, they repented. Today, many simply redefine Truth to accommodate their own desires denying, as Satan did, the consequences of sin.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
When you accept Christ as your Savior you are also accepting the Word as Truth. The two are inseparable. Jesus is the Word, the Word is Truth and therefore Jesus is the way to the Father and eternal life. Denying the Truth only leads to believing strong delusions like; There are other paths to heaven apart from Jesus Christ. This is a clear sign of the last days!
Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!
