Hence we have reached out to our Greater Kingdom Partners in an effort to 'MAXIMIZE' a Kingdom Critical effort to UNIFY the Greater Church and the Patriots whom see the dire need to Retain our Forefather's commitment to our 'Religious Liberties' and other Constitutional Freedoms which this country was built upon, and which the Liberal or Socialist agenda of a World delusion-ed by an ongoing separation from anything Biblical or Godly. Churches & Pastors In Election Season
The New Hampshire primaries are just two weeks away! We in New Hampshire are gifted with the opportunity to significantly impact our state government. Compared with California, where one Assemblyman represents over 500,000 citizens, we vote for one or more State Reps who each represent approximately 3,500 citizens, and one State Senator who represents an average of about 58,000 Granite Staters. In time for the Tuesday September 8th primaries, Cornerstone Action released yesterday its 2020 State Primary Endorsements (click on link to be redirected to Cornerstone Action's (c)(4) Blog). Keep in mind: - Only those candidates facing primaries are included in this list; a primary election is one in which voters determine their preference for candidates within a party.
- Criteria for a Cornerstone Action endorsement include: alignment with core issues, viability in the 11/3 General Election, voting record (for incumbents), and a commitment to Christian statesmanship as demonstrated by overall comportment and online behavior, for example. See Shannon McGinley's 8/14 Op-Ed in the Union Leader, "What does a candidate's social media tell you?"
- Cornerstone Action is a state (c)(4) organization and does not officially weigh in on federal races.
While churches and pastors still cannot directly endorse candidates using official church channels--see the Johnson Amendment update below--there are so many things churches and pastors CAN do during election season:
- Encourage congregants to educate themselves on voter registration, elections, and the candidates--see below.
- Deliver Scriptural messages on key policy issues facing NH voters today, including: addiction crises, adoption & foster care, civility in speech & conduct, educational freedom, family relationships/parental rights, fiscal policy, gender & sexuality, housing/poverty, immigration, religious liberty, racial justice, and the sanctity of life--all addressed in the Scriptures.
- Host an online or in-person public forum inviting all the candidates from your district, asking them the same slate of questions, and giving them equal speaking time.
- ENCOURAGE CONGREGANTS TO VOTE!
For a good discussion of legal do's and don'ts, see churchexecutive.com's article, "Legal do's and don't for pastors during an election year." |

EQUIPPING THE SAINTS: Election Edition Answers to common elections-related questions that you can share with your circle of influence:
How do I know what state House or Senate district I'm in?
How do I know what Executive Council district I'm in? What is the Executive Council anyway, and is it important?
- A vestige of NH's colonial days and proof of our forebears' distrust of concentrated executive power, the five-member Executive Council checks the Governor's financial and personnel powers: every state expenditure over $10k and many executive department hiring decisions must be ok'd by the Council
- To find out which of the five Executive Council districts you live in, see the Executive Council's "Districts" page
- Recent personnel decisions have made headlines as the Executive Council opted to block some of Gov. Sununu's appointments to executive offices--the Executive Council matters!
How do I know who's running for office and if they're any good?
- Visit your city or town's CITY or TOWN CLERK page, search for an Elections/Voter Information area, and look for a SAMPLE BALLOT, which will list all candidates running for office (separate ballots for each party in the primaries)
- Once you know who's running, search social media and the web for information on candidates; look for any virtual or in-person meet-and-greets, or reach out to the candidates on your own, as there is no substitute for getting to know a candidate personally and asking them questions yourself; and feel free to consult the Cornerstone Action (c)(4) Blog for their Primary Endorsements and their General Election Endorsements coming soon!
How can I find out about voter registration, party designation, and election day information?
- In NH, the CITY or TOWN CLERK is the source of all election-related information: voter registration, absentee/mail-in registration and voting, how to participate in primaries, and polling location and hours for both the Tue 9/8 Primaries and the Tue 11/3 General Election! Find your town clerk's website and reach out to your town clerk if you can't find what you're looking for.

Johnson Amendment - Repealed?
Did President Trump end up repealing the Johnson Amendment, that 1954 rule that prohibits churches and other nonprofits from engaging in certain kinds of political activity? For some of us, the Johnson Amendment represents a gross breach of the First Amendment. Congress prohibits nonprofits — including churches — from participating or intervening “in (including the publishing or distributing of statements) any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.” These prohibited activities are known as “Political Campaign Activity” and occur when a church — or any 501(c)(3) organization — directly or indirectly participates or intervenes in “any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for elective public office.” (from irs.gov and churchexecutive.com). While the Johnson Amendment has NOT been repealed, on May 4, 2017, Trump signed the "Presidential Executive Order Promoting Free Speech and Religious Liberty." The executive order does not repeal the Johnson Amendment, nor does it allow ministers to endorse from the pulpit, but it does halt the enforcement of its consequences by directing the Department of Treasury that "churches should not be found guilty of implied endorsements where secular organizations would not be." So, more of a level playing field, perhaps? |

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR SERVE YOUR COMMUNITY ENGAGE YOUR CHURCH
In search of a creative way to serve your community given the ecomomic fallout of COVID-19?
We are just beginning to assess the economic damage from COVID-19. While the NH state government does what it can policy-wise to stimulate economic growth, it cannot possibly get people back to work on its own--local communities must step up. And the people of God have solutions for our communities' biggest pain points.
HOST A JOB FAIR AT YOUR CHURCH THIS FALL OR SPRING
